1). Rihanna

R9 is possibly the most anticipated album of the year. Fans have been going wild online as Rihanna has been teasing hints for months now. The record is rumoured to be dancehall-inspired, probably drawing inspiration from her Barbados roots. Expect this album sooner rather than later, as it’s been four years since Rihanna’s last, ‘Anti’.

2). Sam Smith

Smith has been teasing new music for a while now, with ‘How Do You Sleep?’ achieving chart success last summer, fans are assuming Smith’s hard at work on they’re third studio album. They announced in October that work on the album is underway. Fans can expect a return to form with recent successes on electro-pop hits ‘Promises’ and ‘How Do You Sleep?’, after they’re most recent album ‘The Thrill of It All’ failed to live up to the success of they’re debut.

3). Drake

Drake has not released an album since 2018’s ‘Scorpion’. He told fans late last year that he hopes to release his next album in 2020. Fans can expect Spotify’s most streamed artist of the decade to continue to push boundaries with his distinct R&B infused rap sound.

4). Kendrick Lamar

Lamar’s 2020 follows a busy few years after 2017’s Pulitzer prize winning ‘DAMN’ and producing the ‘Black Panther’ soundtrack. Information regarding the album is currently in secrecy but with some Summer shows lined up for later this year, fans can expect some new music to rock out to.

5). Lady Gaga

Gaga spent much of 2019 in Las Vegas starring in her own residency show but has spent significant chunks of time out of the spotlight and in the studio. Gaga explored new alternative sounds on 2016’s ‘Joanne’, so it will be interesting to see whether she will return to her dance-pop roots or continue experimenting with different sounds.
